Melissa Carter is a graduate of Florida International University with a Masters Degree in Art Education.
Melissa Carter is a painter who has been a Vero Beach resident since 1997. She has been teaching art since 2013 in Indian River County school district as well as at the Vero Beach Museum of Art and with Art Works.
Melissa received her Master’s degree in Art Education under Professor David Y. Chang at Florida International University where she received academic training in landscape, still life and portraiture. She has studied abroad in France and Italy and has had her work exhibited at the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum, the Paint Me Miami Competition, several exhibitions at the G.C. Gallery at FIU, and at Raw Space Gallery.
Most of Melissa’s paintings are inspired by the beauty of nature and light. Many of her paintings use those two elements as metaphors for the transience of human life and the illumination of God’s grace.
While her primary medium is oil, she also enjoys working in charcoal and ink drawings, photography, and printmaking.
Melissa is the featured Artist during the month of April in Main Street Art Gallery in Vero Beach, Florida
